4 Ways to Keep Your Refrigerator Clean

4 Ways to Keep Your Refrigerator Clean

Here are some useful ways to keep your refrigerator clean.

You fight a constant battle to keep your kitchen clean. Even if you manage to sanitize the countertops after a messy dinner experiment with raw chicken, and you clean up the stove after making pasta to go with the chicken, there is still more to do. You will probably overlook the inside of the fridge. Here are some useful ways to keep your refrigerator clean.

Discard Old Food

First things first, discard old food. You probably have containers of half-finished lunches that you brought home and forgot to deal with or leftovers that you didn’t want to eat. As a result, they are taking up valuable space in your refrigerator. Make way for fresh groceries by getting rid of anything that is more than a week old. This advice goes for all produce, along with anything in jars. Do you love salad dressing and depend on condiments for flavor? They’ve outstayed their welcome. Get rid of them, especially if they have spilled or left other messes behind.

Wipe Down Sticky Messes

Now that the first step is over, cleaning the surfaces of your fridge is how you can keep your momentum going. Wipe down all sticky messes you see – it doesn’t matter if it is spilled juice or a pool of blood from raw meat. Warm washcloths will be your best weapon for this task, but don’t overlook milk jugs and other drink containers, such as pitchers of fruit punch.

Add Liners

You probably already put liners in your slow cooker to help keep it clean. Think about the way you use plastic wrap, parchment paper, or aluminum foil while preparing meals in the kitchen or storing last night’s dinner. Adding liners to your refrigerator can make a huge difference in reducing the amount of mess. Plastic mats, paper towels, and newspapers can all help, especially if you worry about produce getting too wet and soggy before you can eat them.

Follow the Rules

Make a list of rules for your fridge. For best results, keep the rules on a piece of paper or written on a whiteboard hung on the door. Plates, cups, and spare bottles of sauce, condiments, and open containers should be kept out of your refrigerator to help keep the clutter to a minimum.
