Cleaning Your House, Part Two: Bedroom and Office

Cleaning Your House, Part Two: Bedroom and Office

Cleaning your house isn’t as difficult as it seems.

Cleaning your house isn’t as difficult as it seems. Now that the kitchen and bathroom have been tamed, you can move on. Going into the bedroom and home office can make you feel anxious because of how cluttered they are. For one thing, they could be full of dirty dishes that you haven’t wanted to shift because the kitchen was already a nightmare. But it’s time to get past that fear and make a change for the better.

Cleaning the Bedroom: What to Do

One reason to clean the bedroom is to get rid of all of the dust. Dust is one of the biggest allergens that there is. You shouldn’t be losing sleep because you can’t breathe. If you sneeze every morning or cough as you try to drift off, then you know what you need to do. Dusting and vacuuming aren’t enough.

A deep clean is necessary. All mattress pads should be cleaned once every two months. Wash all the of the bedding, such as pillowcases and sheets, on hot water every week or so. When your pillow is more than three years old, get rid of it. Replacing it with a new one will help you feel comfier when it’s time for bed.

Baking soda can help make your mattress pad smell fresh again. If you spend every day of summer sweating and not showering before climbing into bed again, this can make a huge difference. Cleaning the guest bedroom is also worth it, especially when you are expecting visitors.

Pillows are odd ducks. Sometimes you can wash them in the washing machine, and sometimes you will need to get them dry cleaned. It depends on what the manufacturer recommends.

Cleaning the Office: Tidy Up!

Tidying up the office can help you get more done. Productivity will slow down if you are distracted by scooping the cat’s litter box or fidgeting with decorations that keep falling down. Wipe down your desk, clean off the keyboards, and use electronic wipes on your computer screen. Take the time to clean off the desk phone, if you have one. Use a cotton swab to get the spaces in between on the keyboard or use canned air to help blast the crumbs and other gunk out.
