Bedsheets
While most people take a shower before bed, reducing the risk of getting the sheets dirty, overnight we all lose dead skin cells and hair. These skin cells are food for bacteria, dust mites, and fungi. Over time, these can build up and lead to health problems and skin irritation. You should change your bedsheets every 10-14 days.
Bathroom Towels
Towels are germ magnets since we use them to clean up after messes and use them after the shower. While the water that gets on them post-shower is clean, it often turns into mildew if the towels do not dry properly. Towels should be washed in hot water frequently before they start to give off an unpleasant smell.
Floors
Floors get very dirty over time, especially if you have pets or wear your shoes indoors. Carpets and rugs should be vacuumed multiple times a week if you have pets. Any high-traffic areas should be vacuumed at least twice a week. Even parts of your home that don’t see much dirt, like your bedroom, should be vacuumed once a week.
The Sink
Your kitchen sink could be full of bacteria, mold, and lingering food particles from meals past. Clean your kitchen sink after every use, and clean your sponges as often as you need to (at least once a week).
Door Knobs
Don’t forget your door knobs! These get touched on a daily basis by anyone who enters or exits a room in your home. You should wipe off your doorknobs at least once a week using a clean cloth and mild soap.
