It’s easy to fill up your time in the summer with a variety of fun activities. After all, no one wants to have to clean. But keeping your house clean is important, not only for when you want to host a game night or have people drop by for some iced tea and catch up after not seeing each other for years. Here are some tips for making that process much easier.
Get Rid of Clutter
Spring cleaning is a great time to dump all of the things that cluttered up your house during the winter. But that doesn’t mean you need to stop there. Your home can easily fill up with new things any time of year. During the summer, take advantage of the sunshine and get outside more – get rid of all the clutter in your home. Even if it isn’t destined for the dumpster, you can still consign clothes, shoes, and other items that are used but you no longer need. Donating other items to charity can make you feel good while also lightening up your home.
Reorganize Everything
Organization is different than sanitization. They are two sides of the same coin when it comes to housework. Your spouse could be better at one than the other. Store cold-weather items and put them away until you need them again. Take the time to help your kids clean their rooms instead of just expecting them to do it – otherwise, everything will just be stuffed in the closet. Organizing closets, pantries, cabinets, and the garage can all make a huge difference, too.
Start Cleaning Soft Things
Now you will want to clean softer surfaces in your home. This includes carpets, upholstery, and curtains. Everything could be dusty, and as you know, dust is one of the biggest allergens. Don’t overlook the importance of cleaning off all of your bedding – it could be one way to refresh them and make sheets, blankets, and pillowcases feel more comfortable when it’s time to go to sleep.
